Work is well under way to upgrade and re-locate the sewage works that were located close to Stoke Lock. They are moving downstream closer to Clay Lane.
Early work to compact the ground ready to take the weight of buildings is now complete, and has meant the end to thumping noises that persisted through the first half of 2024.
New but much shorter work is now in progress to drive in piles to hold up the buildings. This is almost complete at the time of writing (August 2024).
A tunnel pipe connecting the two sites will take waste from the old site to the new site and is pretty much complete and ready to go. The buildings will be erected over the next few months. The major effect of this will be site traffic bringing in building materials along Clay Lane. The new works will be modern. Although they will be closer to us, the council promises that they will deal with smells much more efficiently.
